When it comes to horrific and barbaric torture
and slaughter, ISIS needs no boost in creativity. However, the powerful
terrorist organization continues to revive ancient execution methods,
and one in particular has some arguing that it’s implementation would be
worse than beheading.
A video of a Muslim woman calling for Caliph al-Baghdadi to introduce the ancient ritual of impaling enemies has surfaced, in hopes of striking such fear in the enemy that no one will oppose them.
According to Walid Shoebat, the woman expresses “the call of Muslim mothers,” claiming that beheading is too kind and will not deter attacks against ISIS like the U.S.-led air strikes. She pleads with ISIS to revive the medieval method used by the Ottoman Empire.
There are several forms of impalement as a means of execution. It was meant to be a painful, graphic, humiliating punishment that extended the agony of the accused. During a typical execution, a long stake penetrates through the rectum and is forced up through the torso, exiting at the shoulder, neck, or head. Sometimes a hot metal rod would be used in place of a traditional stake.
It could be days for the victim to bleed out.
Perhaps the most infamous impaler was Vlad III in the 15th century. Known as Vlad the Impaler, the Prince of Wallachia impaled 20,000 people, displaying their skewered bodies upright as a nightmarish “forest” of corpses.
